Yup, I caught up… yes, finally

Umineko no Naku Koro ni – Episode 9

The group decides to check again on Kanon and Jessica, and Rosa tells everyone to stay together, explaining the situation as the Wolves and Sheep puzzle. Walking towards the room’s door, it’d be impossible not to notice another magic seal on it (The first pentacle of the moon, according to Maria). They knock the door and call out to Jessica, but no one replies, and so they decide to get in using the Chef’s key.

Enetering the room, they found Jessica’s body lying on the floor with Kanon’s nowhere to be seen. Rosa notices a key on a table and asks the servants which door does it unlock. The buttler tells her it’s this room’s key. Rosa asks him how many keys to this door’s lock exist and the old lady tells her this is the only one, along with the keys the servants have –the ones that unlock every door except the Chapel’s and the Study’s.

*Beatrice ensures Battler that the only keys that can open this door, is the room’s door or the master keys, which the Servants have one each.

With Jessica’s key being on the table, the only ones who could lock the door would be the servants with their master keys, thus putting them under her suspicion. Shannon and Genji have an alibi, that being they were at Kinzo’s room all the time. Kumasawa and Gohda though have none. The most suspicious one though is Kanon, who’s being missing. However, there’s also the possibility the culprit killed Kanon, stole his key, locked the door and hid his corpse somewhere else. Rosa brings up the probability of Beatrice buying Kanon’s help using gold, or even him trying to get it all for himself.

Battler refuses to believe it and decides to prove his innocence. He asks Gohda on more detail about what happened when they tried to enter the room. Gohda replies they used Kanon’s key. So, if Kanon’s key is still in Jessica’s pocket, he’ll be proven innocent. The doctor checks and ultimately finds it. Kanon not having a key means he couldn’t have locked the door. Rosa then asks Battler where did Kanon go, something he doesn’t know, telling her he might already be dead.

With that, they’re back to where they started, and Rosa points her shotgun at the two servants. Battler steps between them and tells Rosa that, by knowing them even a little, he doesn’t believe it’s them, and conclusions without proof won’t be approved by him.

*Beatrices ensures Battler that the room has no type of hidden door; the only way out is that door. The only way to lock the door is with Jessica’s key or the servants’ master keys. The window is also locked from the inside.

*Battler requests Beatrice to repeat that Kanon was killed in that room. She does so.

*Battler requests she repeats Kanon’s corpse in that room. She refuses.

*Battler requests she repeats that the last time the door was locked, it was by one of the servant’s master keys. She refuses again.

*Beatrice ensures Battler that when the door is locked, i’ts impossible to enter or exit through it by any means. It’s also impossible to lock the door from the outside without using a key.

Battler says he gives up, that even if he’s proven that Kanon didn’t lock the door he hasn’t yet pinpointed the culprit who killed Jessica. Shannon attempts to thank him but he tells her not to, since he haven’t proven her innocence. He apologizes to Rosa for being uncooperative and they shake hands.

Afterwards, they take a break for lunch, and the Doctor complains about eating canned food, when they could have eaten Godha’s cooking. Battler says there may be poison mixed with the ingredients, so they’re better off away from them.

Maria shows Battler a book she has, where it explains the Wolves and Sheep puzzle. In the puzzle, there are several wolves and sheep that ride on a boat. Two wolves and two sheep are placed on one coast, and they ride on the boat to the opposite shore.  However, only two fit on the boat, and if there are more wolves than sheep at any time, the sheep are eaten.

See?

See?

Roza orders the servants to go with Godha to the kitchen to wash the dishes and George asks her if he can go to. She tells him he has something to tell to the family, and so she tells the doctor, Nanjo, to also leave the room.

Now, the only people in the room are members of the Ushiromiya family, AKA the sheep, according to her, as Battler says. By expanding that conversation, they end up to the theory that some of the servants may not be wolves. Battler turns around the chessboard for once more, asking Roza the reason the servants would lock the door to the previous room (Since that would place them under suspicion). Roza says that Beatrice could’ve been the criminal, and somehow she could’ve locked the door to place the suspicion under the servants but that’s not possible since there arent any duplicate keys. George worries about Shannon now, but Roza hints she might be a wolf, something George refuses to believe.

Back in the kitched, Godha is cooking using ingredients that were sealed so the rest of the servants can eat. He offers to test them first, of course. At that time, something can be heard behind the kitchen door. Godha opens the door and a wounded Kanon appears behind it. Dr Nanjo attempts to give him first aid while Godha is sent to inform Rosa and co. about the situation.

Kanon stops them, however, by telling them the culprit it Rosa. They move to another room they can relax at, and lay Kanon’s body down. Shannon mysteriously leaves the room in search for something which finds on a cellar, near a spider’s web.

Back on the room Kanon was treated again, he stands up and surprises everyone. They ask him if he’s in pain, to which he replies that his injuries are nothing, while scratching them deeper. Everyone watches him freaked when Shannon enters the room, holding a handkerchief with spider web on it and asks him if he’s really Kanon. He attempts to rub it against him, saying that if he’s Kanon nothing will happen, but in case he’s not, well, spiders seem to be he’s natural enemy.

SPLATTER GETTO!

SPLATTER GETTO!

Kanon summons that magic sword of his and slices the doctor’s and the old lady’s room. They start a fight, and Godha pushes him against a wall to try and stop him. Shannon walks to him and finally rubs the handerchief on him, leaving him screaming in agony.

In the end, he dissolves, leaving the servants (Well, except Shannon I guess) freaked out.
